The hostage taker is already arrested for illegally detaining 32 kids and 2 teachers. The hostage drama went peacefully as the demands of the hostage taker “Jun Ducat” are granted. He said that he is doing this for the sake of those children, exposing the problems of our society. Those children are now given with scholarship grants, from grade school, high school and college. It is a good thing that somehow their future is now brighter.
However…
Because of that, countries around us have witnessed such event. Future investors decided not to invest business in our country, knowing that such actions are tolerated. Imagine the millions of jobs lost. They think our country is not capable of governing itself. The reputation of our country is at stake.
Is the family of those victims will realize this? No. In their eyes, Ducat is a hero. They will benefit from it, so they are glad now. Will those working in Makati or those who enjoy more in life sees Ducat a solution to poverty? No. For they are more worried that they might be affected by those reckless, emotion-driven actions. Probably they are loathing him for his quick actions.
Why do these things happen? Is it the politics in our country? Is it always opposition is fighting against poverty? Or is it the administration? Will the conflict ever cease and completely eradicated?
No. Because the problem lies within us. The Philippine politics is very FAMILY oriented. Consider our politicians as our parents. And we, the people governed by them, as their children. In our society lies “favoritism”. If we benefit from the politician, we worship them. If we are neglected by these leaders, we despise them. Simple. In this way that it completely circulates in spiral, never ending arguments, never ending sufferings.
Do we vote opposition/administration politicians to quarrel in congress/senate? Their job isn’t to be like Manny Pacquiao or like Batista to fight each other. The enemy isn’t the opposition or the administration. It is POVERTY!~ What happens while they are busy yelling, criticizing, killing each other in progress? Beyond their knowledge, lots of Filipino people are suffering from hunger, poverty, etc. We overhear their conversation as pots call kettle black, etc.
If these politicians have pampered those who worship him/her, they feel satisfied already. I think most politicians do hard work too, to be fair. It is wrong to simply accuse that they don’t do any. Yet, it is wrong to say that they’ve done a very good job.
I’m not doing this in favor of opposition, and also not in favor of those in administration. If each of us would just see things in other’s view. If we could just listen first and speak later. We must understand others to be understood by others.
By becoming leaders, you shoulder great responsibility. Anyone who dreams of serving our country must be aware of that. They should extend their arms as necessary to harness everyone with differed beliefs; after all we are all under their responsibility as parents to children. If they can’t, then they don’t have it all completely what it takes to be a good politician.
How about Ducat’s actions? Is it an act of heroism or an act of terrorism?
Before you answer that, let me ask you.
When will the Filipino people be able to answer unanimously?
